Authors.txt file for GIT migration...

Gregory Casamento
Hey guys,

I am using the attached file as the authors file for git migration.   If any of you remember any of these handles, please add the email and name.  There are a few which are not filled in.   There are also about 5 IDs which are not currently identified.  Presumably because those people have removed their accounts from gna.

Anyway.  Please review the existing file and add what you need to it.  I'm wondering if it might not be a bad idea to put it on svn / git so we can just commit changes to it, but we are not at that point just yet.

If we look at:
http://cvs.savannah.gnu.org/viewvc/gnustep/dgs/tiff/ChangeLog?root=gnustep&view=log

and the commit by 'netcrep'
http://cvs.savannah.gnu.org/viewvc/gnustep/dgs/tiff/ChangeLog?root=gnustep&r1=1.1&r2=1.2

it has Scott Christley in the ChangeLog
it looks like the scottc account started committing to that directory
a year later, so maybe he just switched usernames?

i haven't managed to track down commits by the 'netc' user

from the other things (particularly uid...) it is difficult to say
without the context of the stuff they committed, and potentially cross
referencing that with list postings.

Please don’t use my swan.ac.uk address.  GitHub already knows about [hidden email], so that’s probably the best one for use in a git repo.

Hey guys,

All suggested corrections made.  Please let me know if there is anything else.  Otherwise this is the final version.

Git migration (was Re: Authors.txt file for GIT migration...)

Not a comment on the Authors file,  but related to the git conversion.

I've done a couple of conversions in the past,  and one thing I noticed
is that some of the migrated commit messages end up quite ugly in the
automated conversion.

I seem to recall ESR has been hacking some stuff for aiding migrations to DVCS's
including git. Maybe it'd be worth dropping him a line to see if his tools would
achieve better results?

Moving this onto gnustep-dev@ only.

I'll guess the version in the referred mail is the latest version we have?

If so, let's replace this:
  ivucica = Ivan Vučica <[hidden email]>
with
  ivucica = Ivan Vučica <[hidden email]>

We can then track a few more users (jdess, one of the uidNNNN users is
Adam, etc)

We also should do a few final formatting changes, too (entry for
Riccardo, for example, includes a misplaced tab, and Marcus Muller
should be spelled with an umlaut).

Let me know if there's further changes.

**Final** call if anyone cares about having an email address different
than authors.txt published at:
  https://github.com/ivucica/gitsvn-scripts/blob/0895dffd8bbc539690cb10ecd64f623c6740b2e2/data/authors.txt

The conversion and push is happening **tomorrow** afternoon UTC. If
you care about your commits being associated with your various
profiles (GitHub or otherwise), it is the right time to respond to
this email!
